Creating a Fig community based in Long Island
Creating a Fig community based in Long Island
Is to build and bring together a fig enthusiast community that would share its growing techniques, cloning, and proper storing/winterization knowledge to help others achieve maximum yield and to grow and enjoy these delicious fruits themselves.
Todd Cirella’s father, Salvatore, has always been passionate about gardening and cultivating food in their backyard. After years of sharing this passion with his father, Todd has been planting and growing his own garden for nearly 25 years. From figs and peaches to apples and an assortment of vegetables, Todd spends his weekdays enjoying his fresh crop and sharing it with his community.
Todd’s passion for figs began on a spring trip in Italy, where he stumbled upon a beautiful array of fig trees. Besides their sweet, fresh taste, Todd was captured by the enormous number of fig types, which fascinated Todd and led him to start cloning the trees himself. Since then, Cirella has been attending Long Island’s Fig Fest and purchasing the different fig varieties.
